Claudia Mitchell, Ph.D., MSN, RN has more than a decade of academic experience and presently serves as Assistant Provost for Health Professions, where she provides executive leadership for both the department of healthcare and department of nursing. Before moving to an academic role, Dr. Mitchell worked in clinical practice for nearly 20 years in the roles of staff nurse, clinical supervisor, case manager, director of nursing services, and consultant in the areas of professional development, quality improvement, and compliance. She has provided executive leadership in opening new clinical agencies and academic programs. In recognition of her contributions to teaching and nursing education, she received the Leadership in Nursing Distinguished Nurse Educator Award from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 2012. She has published and presented nationally on the topic of nursing education.
