Biography

Dr. Dana N. Lawson is an innovative leader and clinical expert with over 16 years’ experience in executive leadership, acute care, clinical operations, home health, and managed care. Currently, Dr. Lawson is the Vice President of Medical Management with Centene Corporation supporting the Louisiana Healthcare Connections plan. The plan serves over 450,000 Medicaid enrollees, making it the largest managed care plan in the state of Louisiana. In her role as VP, Dr. Lawson oversees the clinical and operational teams who manage the health and well-being of enrollees while partnering with the community to improve population health.  Dr. Lawson’s extensive contributions to nursing practice is reflected in her proven track record for designing and implementing evidence-based programs to promote health outcomes among the most vulnerable, decreasing medical costs and increasing workflow efficiencies, and improving the safe delivery of nursing care to individuals across the lifespan.

 

She is committed to enhancing the healthcare experiences for individuals, families and communities through effective partnership and advocacy. To achieve these goals, Dr. Lawson believes strongly in training and equipping a compassionate and dedicated nursing workforce through lifelong education and scholarship. Dr. Lawson holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Grand Canyon University, a dual Master's in Health Administration and Nursing from University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor's in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also holds certifications in case management and LEAN Six Sigma methodology. 

Area of Interests

Her research interests include leadership, quality improvement and outcomes measurement, health policy and advocacy, nursing education, health promotion, and case management.
